ELY & DISTRICT MODEL RAILWAY CLUB
15 May 2010 Thanks to the over 1000 visitors who came along to our exhibition on Saturday 14th May. Twin Falls by Dan and Mick Lawrence won the public vote as best layout . Thanks also to all the exhibitors, traders, members, wife's and friends who helped make our day another success and to Andy Wilkinson and Malcolm Hine (our Exhibition Managers for 2010) . 20 December 2009 Malcolm Hine won the David Townson Memorial Trophy for a locomotive/rolling stock or road vehicle with his O gauge loco and George Langston won the Peter Barker Memorial Trophy for scenic items with a scratch built model kit of the sluice gate Ramsey North . Well done gentlemen.
31 October 2009 OPEN DAY UPDATE Our friends at at British Railway Modelling magazine have been in trick or treat mode this month as they have advised the club Open Day is on 15 November - sorry but it is not, it is still on Sat 28 November 2009 as it has always been planned.
23 May 2009. Six members had an enjoyable steam hauled trip on The Dorset Coast Express to Poole behind 70013 Oliver Cromwell on Saturday on the Railway Touring Company trip from Norwich to Poole.

10 May 2009 Thanks to the over 900 visitors who came along to our exhibition on Saturday 9th May. East Lynn by Trevor Nunn won the public vote as best layout . Thanks also to all the exhibitors, traders, members, wife's and friends who helped make our day another success and to Andy Wilkinson and Martin Spence (our Exhibition Managers for 2009) . We apologise for the none appearance of the 7mm layout Kelbrooke.

16 December 2008 At our annual dinner our Chairman Mr Andy Wilkinson presented the cups to the winning entries in this years modelling competition. Malcolm Hine won the David Townson Memorial Trophy for a locomotive/rolling stock or road vehicle with his O gauge Jinty and Jonathan Wealleans won the Peter Barker Memorial Trophy for scenic items with a scratch built model kit of the goods shed at Ramsey East . Well done gentlemen. Regrettably Jonathan was unable to attend the dinner and missed the filling up of the cup!

22 September 2008 Thurston was displayed (in the Cavendish Hall) at the St Peters Church Flower Festival over the week end of 20/21 September. Thanks to the ladies of the refreshment hall for their hospitality and to all the village visitors for their positive comments and compliments. 26 May 2008 Thanks to all the visitors who came along to our exhibition on Saturday 17th May Foss Landing won the (public chosen) vote as best layout with Cromer being a close second. Thanks also to John Mitchell and Martin Spence (our Exhibition Managers for 2008) and everyone who helped make it such a great day.

15/01/08 At the AGM the go ahead was given for continuing research into Thrapston (Midland) to ultimately lead to building the next layout to include a narrow gauge feeder line and interchange from the adjacent quarry.
11/12/07 At our annual dinner our President Mr Phil Giffen presented the cups to the winning entries in this years modelling competition. Derek Buck won the David Townson Memorial Trophy for a locomotive/rolling stock or road vehicle with his GWR wagons and Andy Wilkinson won the Peter Barker Memorial Trophy for scenic items with a scratch built model kit of the Nat West bank in Ramsey High Street . Well done gentlemen.

19/12/06 At our annual dinner our Chairman Andy Wilkinson presented the cups to the winning entries in this years modelling competition. Brian Smith won the David Townson Memorial Trophy for a locomotive/rolling stock or road vehicle with his 16mm narrow gauge ex W + L 4 ton open wagons and Martin Spence won the Peter Barker Memorial Trophy for scenic items with a Campbell Scale Models kit of a deck timber bridge for his new Canadian layout. The competition was judged this year by professional model maker Graham Varley. Well done gentlemen. Brian Martin 20/11/06

25/03/05 Our annual modeling competition will be judged on Tuesday May 10th with two sections, the David Townson Memorial Trophy for a locomotive/rolling stock or road vehicle and the Peter Barker Memorial Trophy for buildings/scenic modeling. Models have to have been made in the last twelve months since May 04. 20/03/05 Well done to our old friend Roland Woodrow who was the exhibition manager for the recently formed March MRC first show on Saturday 19th March, an enjoyable time was had by all. 16/01/05
20/10/04 Our annual dinner this year is to be held at The Stagecoach, Market Street Ely, on Tuesday 14/12/04 for further details contact Michael Murfitt 2/06/04 Congratulations to Jonathan Wealleans for winning the David Townson Memorial Trophy in our annual modeling competition for a locomotive/rolling stock or road vehicle. His winning entry was "00" kit built J15 loco beautifully weathered and hopefully appearing soon on Thurston. Congratulations also to Andy Wilkinson for his entry of scratch built station buildings for Thurston in the buildings modeling section and winning the Peter Barker Memorial Trophy. We apologize for the non appearance of Mexizhoeira Grande due to the owner being stranded abroad. Kingston Regis was voted by the public as the best layout at the show. 24/11/03
